Remove annoying toolbars in Firefox and Internet Explorer PDF Print E-mail

From time to time I receive calls from clients complaining that suddenly when browsing the web, they notice many new and unusual buttons in Firefox or Internet explorer.

This short article will assist you in completely removing these almost always automatically installed toolbars which are usually bundled with Ad-ware and sometimes even Spyware from your system.

Some common toolbars that usually automatically install and come bundled with other programs are:

  • Bing Toolbar
  • Yahoo Toolbar
  • Google Toolbar
  • Ask Toolbar
  • Facebook Toolbar

Apart from the list above, there are actually many others that are not listed here but the above list is the most common at the time of writing.

In Windows XP, do the following steps to remove the Toolbars:

  1. Click Start, go to Settings, then head over to Control Panel
  2. Go into your Add/Remove Programs list and do a search for anything to do with the above names and/or anything to do with "toolbar or bar".
  3. Once found, double click and uninstall

In Windows 7, do the following to remove the Toolbars:

  1. Click Start, go to Control Panel.
  2. Go into your Programs & Features list and do a search for anything to do with the above names and/or anything to do with "toolbar or bar".
  3. Once found, double click and uninstall
